The day light will diminish; darkened eves will be here early. The leaves will change from green to brown, dry up, then hit the ground. Pumpkins will replace flower pots in that space. Cool air replaces warmth, before the nip of winter bites you in the face.

Death Rattle

lore-khan:

I left things out.
And now the words have caught in my Throat,
Unendingly rearranged inside, when they should be out.

And when they catch, trapped, they don’t leave;
They don’t stop Rattling in my parched throat,
The snap and crack of arrogant grief.

But these constantly rebounding words are useless now,
That’s why they call it a Death Rattle, I suppose,
When you die, gape-mouthed, your throat cries out
With everything it never let go.
